Heart Rate not being measured

When I am exercising (starting to sweat), I do not get a reading for the heart rate.  Anyone else having this issue?  Like, in the middle of my run, I want to check and all I see is the double line.  I would assume this is because there is perspiration between the watch and my skin but when will there not be????

Do you use lotion? Someone else had the same issue, most likely caused by the perspiration mized with the lotion.

Very seldomly has that happened to me when I run (or even during normal use) and it has usually been with heavy sweating or if my blaze was too loose when I run. It only lasted a few seconds though. But it hasn't done that recently. I ran a half marathon a week ago and the heart rate functionality never cut out even with really heavy sweating.

Has this been consistently happening for you? Does it happen with normal use as well?

No lotion. It is on as tight as I can stand it. It is okay when I start
out but towards the middle to the end of my run is when it doesn't
function.

If it is on as tight as you can stand when starting out, as you run, sweat, and the arm swells up, the band will get tighter. Could it be getting so right that the arm insert the band is getting squeezed, and affecting the blood flow?
The sensor needs to see the changes in the diameter of the capillaries, as the heart pumps.

Try loosening the band before a run. I know it may seem weird, but I wear my blaze pretty loosely actually. I can easily move it up and down my wrist. Usually as I run it doesn't slip around even though it is loose, so you might want to try loosening the band to see how that affects the heart rate monitor.

I'm having a similar problem where I frequently get -- for the heart rate during my walks. I have narrowed it down to it only happening when selecting Excercise on the Blaze on using the phone GPS. I've tried wearing it loose, tight, high, low and it still shows --. If I do the same walk and let it do auto exercise the heart rate works fine the entire time.

Are you using phone GPS with your runs?

Every once in a while (it has only happened like 2 or 3 times) it will show -- for the heart rate when I run, but usually only if I have the watch band too tight or if I am sweating a lot. It usually only lasts 10 or 20 seconds though.

I use GPS occasionally when I run and have noticed no change. I don't know how much that would affect the heart rate sensor though.

Perhaps try contacting support and see what they say.
