Heart rate tracking concern

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hello, my name is Solomon and this morning when I woke up I notice the heart icon next to my heart rate was like 3 hearts but then changed back to a normal heart icon!

My heart rate at the time was 64bpm.

Should I be worried and maybe go see my doctor and mention it to him?

Hello Solomon @Unkle316, welcome to the Community Forums!

I appreciate all the information and details that were shared in your post, thanks for bringing this to my attention. Let me share with you that when your heart beats, your capillaries expand and contract based on blood volume changes. To determine your heart rate, the optical heart-rate sensor in your Fitbit device flashes its green LEDs hundreds of times per second and uses light-sensitive photodiodes to detect these volume changes in the capillaries above your wrist. Then your device calculates how many times your heart beats per minute (BPM). The optical heart-rate sensor detects a range of 30-220 BPM.*

We use green LEDS because they maximize the signal detected from the capillaries near the surface of the skin. The optical heart-rate sensor also uses infrared light to determine when the device is on your wrist to improve the accuracy of your heart-rate data. Keep in mind that Fitbits are not considered medical devices, however, if you're concerned about any heart condition, I recommend you to contact your doctor for more information and details.

You can also check our help article: How do I track my heart rate with my Fitbit device? for more information about heart rate tracking with Fitbit devices.

Let me know if you have any additional questions, I'll be around.
