Horrible product

hate this product. I am hit or miss on being able to sync. Seems I have to unpair it to get it to sync and when it does, it is missing information. I was able to get it to sync this morning after unpairing and pairing it but I am missing workouts. I did a 40 minute boot camp yesterday but it is not showing up (yes, I hit the tracker at the start and finish of my workout but it is not showing up in the exercise log on my phone). Last night, I hit walk on my tracker but when it synced my route and mileage is gone. I also ran Map My Fitness at the same time and, on a known route so I know for a fact the distance, Map My Fitness shows me at 3.14 miles while my Fitbit showed me at 2.25 - a 3/4+ mile difference. And as my sync this morning, I now have a 56 minute walk, no mileage and only 50 calories, when last night I had 2.25 miles and 200 calories. I never had an issue with my Flex but the Blaze is a horrible product. I am to the point that I am going to start to look for a new brand. I bought this to track my workouts and ACCURATELY track them and seems this is not able to consistently do either of these things. Very disappointed and would never recommend this to anyone. I have done everythings suggested and nothing seems to work consistently.

I would suggest talking to customer support, could be your Blaze. I have done several bike rides between 20 and 35 miles since I got my Blaze three weeks ago and the difference between Map my Fitness and the Blaze has been about 0.2 miles each time.

No, it's not his Blaze...it's the product.  People are getting frustrated and p***** off at the lack of feedback from FitBit.

We need a formal statement from FitBit that their Tech people are aware of the problem and they have ID'd the problem and a solution and it will be forthcoming shortly.

We don't need FitBit Mods coming here and giving us a list of solutions from a checklist, none of which work.

The **ahem** thing is off 20-30% on steps/distance.  It should be EASY to ID the problem and fix it.  We're not asking to go from 97% accuracty to 99%, just 75% accuracy to 90% or so.

It seems to be a common problem.  The difference between Map My Fitness results, my former Flex and the Blaze are so vastly different.  Come on -- I know for a fact that the walk I took last night is 3.1 miles (I've driven it, my Flex recorded it at that length, and Map My Fitness has tracked that distance every single time for the past 2 years), but Blaze said I did 2.25 miles, and only burned 50 calories.  Seriously????

You are asking in the wrong area. This is a community support forum. If you want a direct statement from fitbit you won't be able to find that here.

We can suggest talking with support, or even hint at the fact that either there is an incompatibility with the phone's GPS or it was not connected to the phone at all. If it wasn't connected to a GPS, it uses your inputted stride length to calculate distance, which needs to be updated to reflect the correct stride.

My Blaze NEVER accurately calculates distance without the GPS. Yet it ALWAYS calculates it correctly with the GPS. Could there be a software issue? For sure, there may very well be. It may take a little time for fitbit to solve all of these issues, especially with all of the different phones and operating system versions out there.

Did you start a workout from the Exercise screen and connect the blaze to the phone? Or did it auto recognize the walk? In order for it to use the phone's GPS, you need to start the exercise and have the blaze connect with the phone. I have run many times with and without the GPS. Without the GPS it always undercounts my distance, even after updating my stride length. I don't always run at the same stride length when I exercise. With the GPS, it has always accurately tracked distance, identical to MapMyRun.

Fudge:

(1)  For those of us who don't want to carry a phone (that's why I bought The Blaze in the first place), the thing should be able to count steps and distance.  Nobody is saying the default has to be super-accurate, but once you input your Stride Distance it should be able to tell from arm swings and/or motion that 2,400 steps (in my case) is 1 mile.

(2)  This may be a Community Support Area, but FitBit runs this site, has Mods here, and is no doubt aware of all the problems with the Blaze, the Best Buy recall, etc.  They clearly rushed the product because of the falling stock price and they need to now issue a formal statement -- here would be fine -- saying their tech people are aware of the probem and are on it.

Clearly, changing the Stride Distance fixed NOTHING.  Whatever the Blaze uses to calculate distance and/or steps, is way off.  So inputing a personal Stride Distance or linking to GPS would not seem to help.

(1)  You are not going crazy, the 73% accuracy you got on distance is what many of us are experiencing. That's right in the sweet-spot of innaccurate step-counting and distance counting that we are asking them to fix. 5-10% off is something most of us can live with.  But 25-30% ?  I can count more accurately thant the Blaze.

(2)  Try re-starting your phone 1 or 2 times, then the FitBit App (another beaut) should synch and update.
