How bright is the Blaze?

Hi,
I purchased a Surge a couple of weeks ago only to return it, the backlight was appalling, a joke. I need to see the time and HR etc at a glance, I found I was focusing for seconds and in the dark it was useless.
I then bought a Garmin Vivosmart HR, exactly the same problem! Why no decent backlight?
It seems these devices are made for 28 year old with perfect vision.

So, my two questions are...How bright is the Blaze display? Will it literally just take a glance to see the information?
Also regarding the display, does it simply take a tap for it to come on? Or would I have to press a button?

I've researched on YouTube but the brightness questions are rarely answered and both devices above looked fine until I bought them.

Thank you for your help.

Hi, @David1110 , I have both the Surge and the new Blaze.  I find that the screen of the Blaze is definitely easier to see and works fine for me (I am not sure if it is the colour screen or the backlight or a combination).  The screen lights up if you flick your wrist upwards (it has to be a definite and quick flick), or it wakes up with a tap or a touch of the button.  Overall I have no issues seeing the screen of the Blaze (and I am 62 with quite poor eyesight).

Thank you Julia, I appreciate your time.

Everything points to the blaze being much better, but it's especially good to hear it from someone who has both the surge and the blaze.

@David1110 To add to @Julia_G's post, the brightness of the Blaze display can also be adjusted using the Blaze's on-device settings. The options for adjusting the Blaze's screen brightness include: Dim, Normal, and Max.

Hope this helps!

Where is that setting?  I haven't found it!

edited to add -- Ah, the clue is in "the on the device settings" ... and there it is.  Good to know!

Thank you Derrick.
The surge backlight was adjustable too, but was next to useless. It had five choices in steps ranging from dark to not quite so dark.
I'm purchasing a Blaze tomorrow now, fingers crossed as I'll lose faith completely if I can't see the screen.

The Blaze is very bright and easily visible in the sun. The light is also adjustable.
