How is the best way to track a spin class. Do I use the cycle section within exercise.....or just let the blaze work out that I'm exercising (as I do with with combat, attack etc)
Done 1 hour spin class this morning and the blaze hasn't tracked it as any exercise!!! Very frustrating when I'd like to know my calorie burn!!!
Any ideas anyone? Please help cus I'm getting really frustrated-bring back the 'workout' section with exercise please!

I will try it in bike mode tomorrow at class and see how that works. The
last time I just subtracted what my fitbit watch said I burned from what
the spin bike said I burned and I manually added the difference to my fit
bit tracker. I am just trying to get the most accurate calorie burn as I
can in order to hit my weight loss goals.

Perhaps not the best but I think it is close to accurate.

I believe the strap will always be more accurate than the fitbit.  The polar strap track electrical impulses produced by your heartbeat and wont be as affected as the optical sensor.

I took a spin class last night and averaged a 134 HR with 498 Cals burned in 41:44.  I took a harder one a couple weeks ago and averaged 153bpm and 775 cals burned in 54:59.

If you don't mind me asking, what was your avg HR and time when you burned 134 cals?

I took a spin class today and I put it on bike mode rather than spin AND I
turned my watch around so the watch face was on the inside of my wrist. I
was on the bike 34:46 minutes and my watch said my average heart rate was
126 for a calorie burn of 209. This is a HIIT class so my heart rate is
always higher - usually 138 - 145 and I don't believe that average heart
rate of 126 is accurate. I have been spinning for a few years so I know how
my heart feels at different points.

My bike stats told me my calorie burn was 442 - sorry I didn't keep the
average heart rate. Speaking with my bike instructor - she wears a Garmin
on her wrist - she believes the bike calorie burn is more accurate.
Although we discussed the following factors:

My fit bit watch knows my weight height age and the bike does not.
However the bike is taking into consideration the 40 pound fly wheel that
is being pushed but of course has no idea if the person riding is a 100 or
200 pound person.

All that to say I just intend to subtract my watch calorie burn from my
bike calorie burn, and manually add the difference to my fit bit app. I
think that is the best way for me to be more accurate in my calorie burn.

Always open to suggestions and/or ideas!

Thanks

Thanks for that , I did a different type of spin class today and started it in workout mode and it did track we were on and off the bike..When we were off the bike we were doing jump squats, squat and press with weight plates and stuff like that, then finished off with a hill climb in bike with the tension pretty loaded.  class 55 mins

Hello all, I hope you are doing fine! Smiley Happy

For me the best way to track a spinning class is by doing it directly from the tracker, you can select this exercise from your Blaze by doing the following:

1. Swipe to Exercise

2. Select Spinning

If you don't have spinning between your shortcuts, you can add it by doing the following from a computer:

1. Go to Settings

2. Go to Blaze

3. Scroll down to Exercise Shortcuts

4. Click Edit Exercise Shortcuts

5. Add Spinning

6. Click Save

7. Sync

Catch you later. Smiley Wink

Dont bother setting it to bike or spin mode.. waste of time doesnt work well ( at least not for me anyway and i have tried it a few times) just set it to workout mode at the start of the spin class at least u will get a calorie count ( u still wont get accurate steps being on the bike though )

It's great to welcome you @DianaJ555 and @SunsetRunner thanks for the information.

Since selecting the activity doesn't work for you, remember that you have the option to use the SmartTrack feature which will automatically recognize this exercise and log it to your account.

I hope this helps, let me know how it goes. Woman Happy

Sorry for late reply. Thank you for the feedback.  Smart track or workout seems to work well for indoor spin and other workouts. I do love the blaze even more so since the updates. 😄

I do not have exercise shortcuts listed under my settings.  Would love to get Spinning added to my exercised.  Any idea where I can do this if I do not see it here?

@JIwanicki I would say make sure that your app is up to date, log out/in. If you still don't see the exercise settings try the web based. Go to www.fitbit.com click on the picture of your tracker in the top right. Then do a sync.

If it doesn't show there then do an add device using the replace option, replacing the tracker with itself.

I was having the same problem, I had to go on to the dashboard on my pc and in my profile click on the blaze settings associated with my account and then select activity/exercise tracking, it then gave me a list of exercises tracked by my device, spinning is an option along with hiking, pilates, martial arts etc etc. you can only select up to 7 activities at one time. I then reset my watch and closed and re opened the app and it is now there!

Spinning is already on shortcut list. Not tracking. Gives me a 15 min walk for hr long class. So now what. So far I'm not happy with blaze. Going back to charge hr!
