Inacurate high heart rate tracking

Hello!

I bought the fitbit Blaze to track my heart rate while exersicing among other things and during normal use it seems work fine.

However, I play quite alot of Squash and it seems that the fitbit then has a problem to track my heart rate when its elevated. For instance the other day It measured an avg bpm at 108 and max at 136. There is no way this can be acurate since I must have been quite close to my max bpm.

I try to wear the band 2 fingers up from the joint bone and as tight as possible.

Question: Is this a know issue or can I work around the problem somehow?

Regards,

Martin

A warm welcome to the Community @Zaphood, thanks for troubleshooting this by yourself.

If you think that your tracker isn't registering your heart rate information properly, I recommend taking a look at our What should I know about my heart rate data? article, there you will find information about how your tracker registers this data. Also, you can see here some tips to properly wear your Blaze to have a better reading.

I too have had that problem. They told me I was the only one they had heard this from. I made all the positioning and tightening changes the firs time I reported it to them. Now I’m told to make detailed records during high heartbeat activity and send screen shots from other measuring devices and Fitbit for their engineer team. VERY frustrating.

OK. I need to update my reply from this morning. I moved the blaze up higher on my wrist this time. This time I even went higher than before so that it is fully I third of the way up from my wrist bone. This time the app was very close to what I saw with my other measuring devices. So I feel that I must apologize to all of the fit bit customer service people who helped me when I did not agree with them that this device would measure correctly when my heart rate got up above 130.

Hi Birt!

Yes I agree with you I also did the same sort of trial and error the other day, adjusting the wrist band and tightening it about 5 cm up from the wrist bone and I got much better readings up to 180 bpm which seems to be closer to reality. I dont have a second device to compare agains but I will keep experimenting to see whats the optimal position on the arm.

Thank you for the input. 🙂

Martin
