Incorrect distance calculation

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Since the 29th September my Blaze has been understating the distance by 16%.  I didn't worry too much because I was interested in the step count. The average step distance has been 60 cm since this time..

Action taken

1. Ensured my step length was correct and even setting the run step the same as the walk. = 72cm to make sure there was no discrepancy.

2. Rebooted the Blaze a few times.

3. Compared it to my Fitbit One which = 72cm was correct even on Google pedometer on a flat surface walk of 2.5 km.

4. Created a manual activity on the PC with steps and that definitely used my stride length of 72cm. So distance was accurate

5. Did the same on my Android phone and the manual step exercise was also 72 cm.. So again, distance was accurate.

When I go back to the 27th February when I started using this Blaze the same thing for a few weeks. But I then started using Multi Mode with my Fitbit One and the step average moved back to 69cm, probably average with the One and the Blaze. So no help there.

It would appear the problem, has always been with me and I'm wondering if others have the same issue.  I'm not using Multi mode now

Today I wore my second Blaze concurrently, same problem

I haven't used SmartTrack or GPS jkust the basic Blaze as it is.

I also am struggling with this. I just ran 3.1 miles on my treadmill and my blaze only tracked .7 miles.

@AHayes, you will have to play with adjusting your stride length. When you set up your profile Fitbit automatically set your stride length. To change your stride length login to your Fitbit app and tap on your account tab. Look for advance setting and click on stride length. Turn off set automatically. You can set both your walking and running stride. You will need to measure your walking and running stride length. Take about 20 steps and measure your distance and divide by 3. This will get you in the ball park. It took me about two months to get my stride set. Since your way off, I would add 4 inches to your stride and maybe work from there. Good luck.
