Issues with barcode scanner in Log Food section

Hi All

I have a new Blaze working on/with a Samsung S5. Both units are up to date with firmware. When I go to log food on my phone and use the barcode scanner I get the error message "Unfortunately, Package installer has stopped." If I then hit ok it doesn't crash the app and things continue as normal. In other words, the barcode scanner simply fails to work.

Prior to buying the Blaze, I did track my food in "MyFitnessPal". The barcode scanner in that app still works perfectly so I know it's not the phone. It's definitely an issue with the fitbit app.

Additionally, I have a number of foods (when entered manually) that the fitbit app fails to find, yet, when I try it in the MFP app, it finds EVERY food and product I can think of.

If the fitbit app doesn't improve with the food tracking, I'll have to track food in MFP and all other health parameters in fitbit. I would much prefer to log the lot in the fitbit app. Does anyone know if you can import food tracked on MFP into the fitbit app???

Regards

darb

@darb my question is that since you have been using MFP why change to fitbit to log food.? Simply connect your Fitbit account and your BRO account.. Log your food into MFP and the calories from fitbit will sync to BRO.. Here is a link to the instructions

Hello Rich

Thanks for the reply.

Yeh, I thought it could be all done with one decent integrated package but it seems that I might have to go that way.

Is the synch process automatic or do I have to continually force the synch process? I would go this way if the synch process is autonomous.

I've linked my Fitbit to MyFitnessPal. I entered a food entry on MFP but no sync as yet??? Any ideas on if this is meant to be automatic?

I don't think I can use the Fitbit Food Logger as it just doesn't have a big enough food database nor does the barcode scanner work (which I use all the time).

I would really appreciate any assistance anyone can offer.

Once the accounts are connected the sync between them happens in the web and is out of your control.

I only mentioned it because your familiar with MFP and many people simply find it easier to use then Fitbit's food.

Thanks Rich. It has now synched (which is great), but not perfectly. For example, I scanned a barcode on a bread product and that worked perfectly in MFP, but, once synched in Fitbit the bread came up as "Lunch Summary" (the item was eaten at lunch). All other parameters worked perfectly.

I guess this is because the food in MFP is not listed in Fitbit.

Anyway, I guess this is the way I will have to use the packages for the best result (at least for me).
