Just like the Charge, my Blaze won't track properly when on my Elliptiical.

I don't know what the problem is, but my blaze won't accurately track my calories burned, or distance when I'm on my Elliptical. I did 3.4 miles today, and burned over 550 calories...Blaze? 0.8 miles and 208 calories. This is truly frustrating. Any ideas or suggestions? It kind of makes the "fit" part of FitBit inaccurate, don't you think?

Please remember that the elyptical is reporting a hypothetical distance based on the amount of spins the wheel takes. This is not directly related to the amount of movement the  feet take. Yes there is gearing but when the feet pause at the top and bottom the wheel continues to turn. Maybe figuring out how far (stride) the wheel turns per foot movement, then fracturing this in will help with the distance.  This measurement will be unique to each elyptical model on the market.

As for calories,  i have my thoughts but don't monitor them,  but understand that the efficiency of the biddy week determine the accuracy.

As commented elsewhere by moderators when this has come up, the Fitbit devices are designed to count steps and the elliptical for all its benefits doesn't really involve any stepping. If you want a more accurate distance measurement you'd be better off manually entering the data.

Understood. Just don't understand why under the "exercise" selection that this is a choice then. Or weights. I mean, what is it evaluating on THAT one?

Sorry to give the impression that I don't like my Blaze - I do. I really do. But this is a concern and if any improvements are to be made, I would hope comments both good and bad are to be taken into account.

Thanks.

@Datredhed fitbit used calories as the common measurement between exercises.

I could add spinning, biking, swimming, yoga, workout, kick boxing, etc to the list of exercises that are not step based. Out of the 20 available exercises, at best only 8 have steps involved.

@Rich_Laue That post was over 5 years ago. @bernardsmith bumped the thread telling everyone to inbox him?
