Latest Fitbit app not auto syncing

I have a Samsung Galaxy S8 with Android 9 and running Fitbit version 3.7. I always leave Bluetooth and GPS enabled and the Fitbit is configured for all day sync and always connected is enabled. For at least the past few months it's not auto syncing on its own like it use to. Now I have to manually sync it to update the stats. It will manually sync just fine so nothing wrong with the pairing or Internet connection. Seems to possibly be a bug in the software. Does anyone have any thoughts?

Also it's kinda lame that Fitbit forces you to use a twitter account to submit a support issue to them. I don't have nor do I want to create a twitter account. Not very good user experience I would say.
