Logging in the incline on treadmill function

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.
The treadmill exercise function should have a way to log in an incline if one uses an incline when on treadmill. The Fitbit would then be able to track vertical climb and software could be enhanced to calculate calories more accurately. I think this is a pretty important fitness function and my main gripe against the blaze.

you can go vote for it here.

But logging exercise has nothing to do with the Blaze itself. Thats in the app or the website itself

Thanks for pointing me to the right place to discuss the issue...even though after six months since Cindy at Fitbit said it was a great idea the capability does not exist. Are we wasting time?

Just a note, fitbit does not add cslories for steps climbed, the caloried could be added by seeing the imcrese in the Heart Rate, and currently this is the same with a treasmill.

Honestly, after I got my charge 2 for a gift and found out I have to manually enter everything, and can't manually enter incline and speed of the treadmill, because I'm not given that option in the log.  I found the Fitbit to be total hyped up junk!  I'm returning mine.  Fitness pal is so much better and it's free.  They give you the option to enter treadmill speeds, incline and the whole work out and it matches what my Nordic Track says.  It tracks your steps more accurately.  You have to carry your phone. But it still works way better than Fitbit.  I'm very disgusted and disappointed, my recommendation to family and friends is don't bother wasting your money.

But MFP uses gps to measure distance, and doesnot count steps or read the heart rate.  Manually entering really is not the best way since it is up to your honesty in things like ahe, weight, physical fitness, etc.

The Fitbit measures heart rate and should be more accurate in calories, manuwly entering events will overide the tracker.

Which is irrelevant because when I swear the tinyest bit, no HR. I get robbed of so many calories burned.

Swearing occaisionly has been found to be helpful with withstanding pain along with negatively affecting the body. However it also has been found that those who commonly swear this is not the case .Maybe it would be better for them to ocaisionly smile.

Seriously, I can't wrap my head around why this has not been addressed.

Maybe because only 45 users out of the millions have requested this feature.

I'm not sure how the incline level will give a more accurate readding than the change in heart rate will.

Please also be aware that holding onto the hand rails may reduce the caloric burn by up to 40%. This will lower you 5% incline benefit from 58% to only 32%

I understand that the request number is extremely small, but it's such an easy change. (one programmer 24 hours maybe) I agree a dreadmill's incline won't improve what the heart rate records but it will track floors.

Fitbit's gimmick is all about badges - It would be nice to see what mountains/floors I can conquer.

Which fitbit is required to do this with? Or is it a function within the fitbit app? If it's within the app, do you have to have the paid version? I'm currently using an Inspire, and synching it with a premium version of the LoseIt! App.

As mentioned above @Sunshine2003 there is no provision to enter the incline. Paid or not paid version.

Pretty sure most people in the forum understand that a) fitbits measure HR + arm swing/body motion so not moving your arms (like pushing a baby buggy or shopping cart) screws up things and b) my HR is so wonky when I'm working out on a treadmill I wonder if its even worth tracking sometimes.

More on b) ... I'm trying to get back into shape and trying to push my HR up to 125-130 during my workout. I have tried using my Fitbit HR to guide increasing my workout to raise my HR to my goal, but one minute my Blaze will say 130 and next minute with no changes to any settings it says 89. Or If I try intervals, after a minute on my rest interval my HR is higher than it was when I was at the end my fast interval.

Really tempted to get iFit app for my treadmill and HR strap to go with it. Throw in a cheap step counter and I have replaced the Blaze with more reliable solution.

If you wear the tracker loose during the day, you may want to tighten it on notch, as recommended, during an exercise. This should help with the heart reading.

THanks for the idea but I wear mine tight enough so it won't slide around. Sometimes a notch tighter, but that seems to break bands on me so tighter still will only cut of my circulation and kill bands faster.

You might already have it to right causing circulation issues when the wrist is bent on certain ways.

That is why I mentioned if worn loosely since it doesn't take much tightness to affect the heart reading.

any looser and it slides around.

can't see how that will get my HR any better than now.

As I mentioned above, if a user wears their tracker loose, sometimes they get a better HR reading slurring an exercise of it is tightened up a notch.
