Hi there @SunsetRunner. A warm welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums! 🙂
This is a normal behavior from your tracker. In order to save battery and for the light not to bother you at night and other different reasons, the display on your Blaze will not stay on all the time. You will need to either press any button or you also have the functionality called QuickView which consists in your tracker's display turning on when you turn your wrist. If this feature is not enabled, you can go into your Fitbit app, tap on your tracker at the top of the dashboard, then scroll down until you find Quick View and make sure it's turned on.
Other than that, after you interact with your tracker, it will take about 5 seconds to turn dark again.
Hope this helps and anything else you may need, I'm always around!
