My blaze counting calories on charge?

Hello I wonder if someone could shed some light on this for me. I'm new to fit bit and I have worn it every day for around 4-5 days. Last night I needed to charge it, so on charge it went around 11am. When I woke up, I went on the app on my phone and for some reason, I have burned 678 calories. How is this possible, if I have not even been wearing the fit bit?

Welcome to fitbit!

I think your Blaze is working fine.

As well as tracking calories you burn through activity, your fitbit also tracks your BMR calories. These are the calories you burn just keeping your body alive (even when asleep). They are calculated from your profile settings (age, weight etc) so you needn't be wearing your fitbit to get them. What you are seeing is the total BMR calories since midnight. There's more information on this here:

Hello Steve,

Thank you for replying to my post.

I just don't know how it would know, seeing as I was not even wearing my blaze between the hours it says I have burned it. Also my calories burned seem very high. One day day I burned over 5000, but on average I've burned 4600. My typical day is going the gym in the morning starting with an hour of weights, followed by 15-20 mins of cardio or ab work outs. I generally do around 10k steps per day.

Am I getting an accurate reading, or should I be contacting fit bit about a faulty product?

It doesn't matter if your wearing the Blaze, Fitbit assumes that you are still alive and breathing, even if your not wearing your Fitbit.
All living creatues burn calories to stay alive, this is your BMR. Whether your wearing a Fitbit or not your burning calories, these are the minimum calories that Fitbit counts. It would be the same as of your wearing the Fitbit and sitting so I'm a chair with your eyes closed.

Now about your BMR, depending on your bodies fitness this could be 50% or more of your daily calories. Is it really accurate, maybe, but it should be close, and the accuracy will be consistent day to day.
