Hi, Lizz here.
So I've had this problem for ages now and I've tolerated it but I was curious if anyone else has this problem. When I'm doing exercises that require a lot of movement, sweating etc my fitbit Blaze can't figure out my actual heart rate. For example if I'm sprinting my heart rate should be displayed around 160 bpm but thinks it's 90! Which is ridiculous and is affecting my information on my fitbit app, saying I'm not burning as many calories etc. The heart rate tracker is set to auto, and the lights are working on the back. I've tried restarting the watch but nothing has worked.
Does anyone else have this problem and does anyone know if it can be solved?
Thanks 🙂

Hi Lizz,
I have the same problem as well. I have tolerated it for so long now but it’s getting really annoying now. I had a 45min workout last week and it didn’t record a thing for me.
Sometimes when I check there’s just dash like I’ve taken it off. And my husband has stopped wearing his during the day as it’s heart monitoring is questionable, it keeps recording heart rates when it’s off for the whole day and shows something ridiculous like 67 active minutes without being worn 😏.
I hope there is a way it can be fixed as this is the reason why I swapped from Charge hr to Blaze.

Same thing here.
But it all started with the version 402 firmware. Before, my Blaze would track my activities automatically with a high success rate (more than 9 times out of ten).
Since, I'm closer to 0 out of ten.
And by the way, the issue is not my Blaze as it has been replaced (on warranty) and the new one does the same thing.

I've had the same issue for over a year. Good luck! The customer service rep told me switching to "auto" for heart rate would be the answer. I won't get my hopes up after ready these comments.

Same problem, I don't run, but walking fast or rowing the HR is usually much lower than my what my chest strap reads. Sometimes I get better results by wearing the blaze higher on my wrist and wearing it much tighter, but I can't get good results consistently. I have even tried wearing a wrist band next to it too.

None of the troubleshooting that FitBit offered helped me with this issue. A replacement device was the end solution. We'll see if the problem persists once I have a different device. It's very sad to think that a fitness tracker can't track fitness properly!

That's a shame. Will you send another post when you get your new tracker and let me know if it works? I just dont want to replace mine if it's an issue with all the products, in which case i'll try a different brand next time.

Mine was replaced because the first Blaze died after about 7 months. The original one was working fine until firmware 402.
The replacement Blaze, a brand new sealed-box device, has the exact same issues. And it's also running on version 402.

I received my replacement FitBit Blaze and have used it during a few workouts. It's still losing my heart rate. Seems like it wasn't my Blaze; the Blaze just isn't designed for serious workouts. Go figure.

Such a shame especially when everything else about it is perfect. Thanks for letting me know 🙂
