Had a new blaze for Xmas and it won't receive texts...calls... any notifications at all. I've been through the online help and adjusted my Samsung s8 etc and the settings on the fitbit. Nothing  .. any ideas??

Before returning the Blaze we had one last go syncing with my husband’s Samsung S8 and it works!!

•Deleted Fitbit app, “Forgot” the Blaze Classic in Bluetooth settings and restarted the Blaze (press and hold left and bottom right buttons till you see the Fitbit logo on screen)

•Went into Settings - Notifications - Set all notifications to on (every single app listed)

•Re-installed fitbit app again and started the set up process

•When the Fitbit app was looking for the Blaze it couldn’t find it so turned off Bluetooth for 10 seconds then back on

•Once connected via the app a pop up flashed up saying to Allow or Deny access to Contacts Apps etc (which when my husband set it up originally it didn’t pop up) Press Allow on all pop ups

•On Fitbit app set all notifications to on (including messages calls calendar and all apps etc)

•Press 3 dots at the top and send a test notification

Initially nothing happened, no text alerts nothing, however an hour or so later app alerts started coming through shortly followed by text and call alerts and, touchwood, it has worked since!

May have been pure luck but that’s what we did. Hope it helps! 🙂

I have a Samsung Galaxy S6 and have been given Fitbit Blaze for xmas. I can receive notifications but it only displays 'new message' and doesn't give any content of the message. I have followed all instructions that I can find still to no avail.

If fitbit is only compatible to IOS (Apple) then they should not market to android users. If anyone has any solutions I would be grateful for the help.

At the moment I am a very disappointed customer!!

I have just managed to solve the issue try enabling the notification widget in the advanced settings in your fitbit app and it should work! Hope this helps

O.k. I worked out how to receive my messages on my blaze watch that didn't just say 'new message'.

I have a Samsung galaxy S6.

Go to your app settings in your phone

Select messages

then select more settings

then turn on enhanced messaging

This has now enabled my watch to show me the text message in full.

🙂 Hope this helps.

I am having exactly the same problem with my fitbit blaze and a Sony Xperia Z5 compact. No emails, messages or phone alerts and no GPS in multisports. It syncs OK but nothing else. I too have had a long online 'chat' with customer services all to no avail.

My husband spent 4 hours trying to figure it out yesterday and an hour on the phone to Fitbit support today and the final answer from them is the Samsung S8 is not fully supported so certain features work and certain features don’t (one being notifications) and I now have to pay to send the Blaze back to the Netherlands recorded delivery! (I ordered it direct from Fitbit.com) Annoyed is an understatement!

Mine is fully working now with the s8. I had to make sure my phone was accepting notifications from all the apps I wanted to use and it just randomly started working that night. No issues now and fully supported by my phone

I just got mine yesterday so maybe its just a matter of time. Do you have that advanced setting called somethig like notification widget turned on as well?

Unfortunately I was unable to get any further than you. Everything but notifications. Practised what I preach. Took it back, now looking into getting a Samsung gear3. Gonna do a bit of research 1st tho. Good luck. I was lucky that I got a return code from Fitbit so that I was able to return it as it wasnt fit for purpose.

This has to be one of the most unreliable and temperamental bits of garbage going. Mine (which was new on Christmas day) won't even sync now!

It wont:

  • Sync
  • Give notifications of it's own making i.e. 'time to move'
  • Give alerts for phone calls
  • Give alerts for emails
  • Give alerts for messages
  • Connect to GPS on my Android 7.1 phone
  • Give alerts as to steps not taken.

In short ~ it's worthless and seriously fails to live up to it's advertised purpose or ability. It is just not fit for purpose.

Purchased at John Lewis and tomorrow will be returned there. This was my main Christmas present. Thanks Fitbit....
