My # of steps vary wildly for same walking route

I walk the same route every day with my Fitbit Blaze on my dominant wrist in the same location. Normally the steps on this route are in the neighborhood of 11,750 to 12,000 but at least one day each week it calculates thousands of steps less. Today it only gave me 9,300 steps for the exact same route. Fitbit always says the steps may vary a little bit according to the device's algorithm. I wouldn't call a nearly 3000 step variance "a little bit".

This is an issue that came about with the April firmware release. And so it seems, not fixed with the most recent firmware. Before the April update, my Blaze counted steps just fine.

No, I'm in L.A. where it was nearly 80 degrees today. So my hand wasn't in my pocket.

Thanks MikeS1971. I guess we'll have to see if it's fixed in the next update.

Was it cold outside today?  Did you have your hand in your pocket for part of your walk instead of swinging your arm?  If so then the variance isn't at all surprising.
