New Blaze - Help with setup

Hello,

First post here.  Excited about my new Blaze.  However, I'm not sure if I've run into an issue with the initial setup ... so I recounted what I did below with some questions at the bottom..  Apologies for the long post, any help is really appreciated.

I opened the box, took out the blaze.  I decided to sync the blaze with my Android.  I downloaded the app from Google Play and installed it.  I opened up the app and created my account, entered my information.  Everything seemed to be going well.  Then, the app crashed.  I closed it and then it immediately re-opened on what I assume is the apps home page that contains summary information of steps, floors, calories, etc.

The issue I'm running into is that the display on the watch still shows the fitbit icon with the text fitbit.com/setup.  I created my account, entered my information, confirmed my e-mail address, but still says the same thing.

Then I read something about it not being charged and noticed within the app, the battery was completely drained. I plugged it in and in a few minutes it signified a 1/4 battery a quarter battery charged.

I also noticed there was a little icon that said "Firmware Update Available".  I thought maybe, the Fitbit needs to update the firmware before it can work.  I tried downloading it but of course the batter is too low, so I can't ... It's been charging now for an hour and the battery still shows a 1/4 charged after trying to download again, it said it can't and needs to be completely charged.

My questions ...

  1. Is the battery supposed to come completely drained out of the box?  Or this a defective battery?
  2. Is it supposed to take a long time to charge?
  3. Will updating the firmware fix the issue with the display only shows fitbit.com/setup?
  4. Any other suggestions?

In case anyone else has this issue, I didn't realize there was a chat support.  I just need to update the firmware and everything worked as it should.
