I received a Blaze as a Christmas present having previously owned a Surge. I set it up, installed the mandatory firmware update and then set it to charge. When I returned some time later it was fully charged and showing around 4k steps after being taken, despite the fact it was lying on a flat surface with no movement during this time. I wore it for an hour before bed and woke up this morning to almost 8k steps taken during the night. My partner has a Charge 2 and showed around 80 steps taken during the night, which was reasonably close to my Surge over the past 18 months. I shutdown the Blaze, turned it back on and it started somewhat tracking the steps accurately. Going up in multiple of 3 or 5 however.
I went for a walk with my dogs for 30 mins, tracked it as a walk (exercise ID: 5333509127) but the GPS never synced with my phone in that it did not record the distance I walked. Looking at my log, I can see the 30 mins walk generated 0.10Km and 264 steps, the map portion however shows the full route I took so the GPS worked in the sense it tracked the map but obviously didn't track the distance / steps. I checked several threads on this forum which all recommended to restart the Blaze using the two button press for 10s. Again, that produced erratic tracking of jumping every 3-5 steps randomly. I performed a 2nd reset to be sure. A few minutes ago while sitting watching TV my Blaze accumulated around 800 steps in a 5 minute window. All without me moving an inch. I kept my hand steady and watched the step counter jumping up rapidly. At this point I decided to recharge the Blaze as all the night activity had brought the battery fairly low. I disconnected it and docked it into the charger and watched as the step count continued, adding another 150 or so steps. I just shutdown my Blaze and am charging it right now. I also went online and changed my height by 1cm & my weight by 1Kg (after seeing otheres mention their stride was incorrect) to see if it was having difficulty with my stride. However, as I previously had a Surge everything is correctly configured from that perspective and putting my Surge back on it is accurately recording my steps around the house.
Just for further info, I also changed the display options on 3 occasions to see if it was just not rendering the steps correctly on the display but this made no difference. App is up to date, all firmware is up to date. Where do I go to from here? Ideally I would like to avoid returning it as it was a christmas gift and I need the person who bought it to send it back to an online retailer.

Fully charged and turned back on. Issue is still there rapidly gaining steps while sitting down.
I also noticed that it's not pulling my heart rate in and my floors for the day is at 3. On my Surge I'd average 20 floors in a given day, particularly on the walk I was on today which has a strong incline for most of the return journey.

After seeing the step counter rising without me moving I took my watch off and set it on a table. In an hour it had gained over 20,000 steps. It has since lost approximately 200 steps. I'm synced at 40,220 steps and my watch jumped back to 40,015. It's now sitting at 40,196 steps. I have synced several times and the discrepancy remains, my app is staying at its higher count and not reflecting the now lower step count. Which makes sense from a programmatic perspective.

This is starting to turn into a monologue would love if someone could give me something to try. I wore it for 6 hours today while out and about and it registered 120 steps. I'm going to organise to return it tomorrow unless there is something I can try in the meantime.
