No voice cues when biking

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I started a bike run recently, and no cues 😞

This must be a bug?

This is what happened:

1. chose excercise -> bike on watch, waited for connection

2. went into phone and started my podcast

3. connection was lost, opened app on phone and no blaze there.. Had to restart app (this happens sometimes, probably a bug) and got connection again

4. started excercise and not a single audio cues during the excercise.

Fitbit, I need answers now, when will you fix this bug? I need to know because otherwise this can not be classed as an excercise watch and I need to return this and buy something that I can use.

Hi @ajea

You also may want to follow a post I have commented on, but basically at the moment there are no Audio/Voice Cues, only cues that flash up on the Blaze.  It's only if you use the app (so basically not by turning exercise on and off on the Blaze itself)  will you get a voice cue.  To me that is extremely disappointing and my biggest issue with the Blaze (and the one main reason I wanted to use it for!)

Yes, sorry that I started a new post, I just wanted to send a signal to fitbit that this needs to be resolved. I'm fine with not starting the run/biking from my watch but I want real time data on my wrist at any time AND audio cues. My god, it is 2016, we are building freaking autonomous robots and listening to gravitational waves. What is the problem fitbit!? Smiley Mad

If you're interested in sending a message to the Fitbit developers, then you are paying in the wrong place. You would want to do that in the Feature Request Board. This board is a great place to bounce your thoughts off of other Fitbit users, and to find out what they think.

As for real time data on the wrist, this is already a feature, with the twist the wrist, quick view turns the unit on. There is a request to have more than one stat displayed at a time, for now the user is required to tap or scroll. Unfortunately i believe Rinning is the only event that supports cues on the Surge, Blaze, and the App. I haven't noticed any reference on Fitbit, or any comerials of voice cues, the one comercial does show a pop up cue, with the lady runner looking at the pop up.

This pop up cue could be added to the Blaze durring walking and biking, but for voice cues, something that was never advertised, would be another story, since the Blaze lacks both a speaker and voice chip, and can not be paired with a BT Headphone.  This would be essential, since while using connected gps the Blaze and not the phone app is doing the recording.

If you're interested in posting in the feature request, please follow the 3 steps shown, Search, if found than  vote and comment, if not add a post with a clear title..Screenshot_2016-03-18-06-52-31.png

Ah, thank you for your answer, will post in the feature request board. I have not been able to run yet but if I can get a pop up every km it is ok for me for now, but it needs to be implemented for biking/walking as well, will try it out.

As for voice cues, technically it should not be a problem since it only requires the blaze to send a message to the fitbit app via bluetooth which then triggers the audio cue from the app. I'm not expecting the watch to talk, I understand that it does not have a speaker, but I expect the app to be able to do it when paired with the watch.

I've been using several free running/workout apps for years and all of them have advanced audio cueing and some also have interval training and coaching, so I figured when paying for hardware and switching to Fitbit, which have a good reputation as a training platform, I would get at least all the features I had before in my free apps. And I think almost anybody who run with any app these days expect to have audio cueing.

I will try a run this weekend and see if it works with the pop up cue. I hope the fix so that I can see more stats at once (at need at least total distance, time and pace) since it is not optimal to swipe when running trail (I might run into a tree!), and that they add the "always on" feature so data is accessible at any time while doing a run.

Again, thank you for your response.

Technically the Blaze only recieves gps readings from the app.

The app app can be used as a remote screen.

Is the app able to recieve a notifacation to speak, this wpuld require a formware and app update.

I understand that it would need a software update if the feature is still not implemented, but there is already data flowing from the watch to the phone, eg answer call and heart rate so it should not be that hard to transmit pace, total distance and so on every mile or km for the app to play an audio cue.

How do you use the watch as a remote screen on mobile run?
