Not receiving notifications on Blaze from Samsung Galaxy S8

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hey, I recently just got a Blaze and I synced it to my phone (galaxy s8) and the app (fitbit) and I test notifications through the app and I didn't receive one, I've tried calling my phone, texting it, snapping it, what's app, FB messenger, etc. But none of them show up. I have all the notifications turned on in the app along with the notiication tab on the fitbit... if anyone could help me please!!

Hi there @INFAMOUSFTFW, I'm sorry you're having problems with the notifications not coming through from your Samsung Galaxy S8.

Have you already tried to restart your tracker? If not, You can easily do this by pressing the left and lower right buttons for 10-12 seconds. This will make your tracker to reboot.

Also, you can go to your phone's bluetooth settings and from here, look into the connected devices and look for the Blaze. Here, tap on it and look for the option to "Forge this device" and once you've done this, go back to the Fitbit application, tap on the icon of your Blaze at the top of the screen, then go to the Notifications and here, set them up again and it should work.

Also, for you to be able to receive third party notifications (not calls, text or calendar), you will need to receive one notifications on your phone first and then go to Notifications on the app again and in Third Party Notifications, you'll see the option to turn on notifications for those apps you've already received notifications from and it should work.

Let me know how it goes!

Have the same issue with my new S8. Notifications were working fine with my S7 edge. But I already transferred all files to S8 and reset to factory settings my S7 edge to be donated to my husband (hahaha) so it is too late to go back to S7. I sent an email just now to Fitbit as I suspect the it is blaze's issue based from what I have read on the forums.

Thank you for sharing though that you this is already being looked at and an update is coming soon for the fix.

I'm having the same issue they deemed my blaze defected cause it's new just got it today. So they are sending me another saying it should fix the issue

That app isn't updated enough to support the s8 as it is to new

The s8 phones are almost a year old and Samsung is already working on the next galaxy. I'm hoping the replacement fixes it but if not I'll be looking at other watches. They've been getting complaints aboutg since April. I just figured they fixed it by now but I guess the s8 is just to far ahead in the platforms

And that's exactly it... The app isn't updated enough to support the s8 as it is to new and to "advanced"

Okay then they should just admit that instead they are sending me a new watch and guaranteed that it will work with the next blaze. I'll let you guys know if does. But after reading most of these it looks like I'll just be reviving another blaze that won't be working as advertised.

Now.. I think it is an intermittent issue. For the first time, I got 1 notification on my blaze using S8 from IG. Yes, one and I got 9 likes almost the same time.. but only one like registered on my blaze.

So is it not really compatible or what?

None of the fixes will work.  The Blaze is not fully compatible with the Galaxy S8 (no notifications) and probably never will be since Fitbit has given up and passed the buck to Samsung who has no real incentive to find a fix.  You would be better off returning the thing to where you bought it.  I suspect it will not be compatible with the S9 either.  And, battery life with the Blaze is nothing short of horrible when you have an S8.  I believe the watch is continuously searching and try to connect with the phone via Bluetooth and dragging the battery down within 1 to 2 days depending on what features you have turned on.  In contrast my old broken down Surge with it's second aftermarket band is fully compatible and, even with almost everything active, battery life no less than 3-4 days.

I just spoke with Fitbit Customer service just now and after trying to unsuccessfully link my Samsung Galaxy S8 active to my Fitbit Blaze, they said that Samsung models Galaxy S8, S8+, and S8 active are not yet compatible with Fitbit app! I am not getting any email, text or call notifications on my Fitbit Blaze, but its syncing my info on steps etc from the watch to the app. This sucks!!! I hope the developers work on this ASAP! They said the only thing I can do is friggin wait for a Fitbit app update and they transferred my issue to another department. Until then, I can't link notifications from my phone to my Blaze watch. =( If they dont resolve this fast, I'll ask for a refund!

Hello all, I hope you are doing fine!

As some of you might know, the connection between the Blaze and the Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ is not being good. For some users the instructions provided in the My Tracker isn't receiving notifications (Android App) have worked. I recommend taking a look at that post and follow the steps provided there.

Let me know the outcome. Smiley Happy
