android pixel.  i would like to only have the tracker vibrate while phone stays silent, however silent on pixel is do not disturb mode.  when this mode is on the tracker does not receive notifications.  how to still get notification on tracker only while keeping phone silent?  i don't need both my wrist and pocket vibrating!

Hey there @cartermac. Great to see you in the Community Forums! 🙂

I think I can help you with this. I'm not an Android expert and don't really know how the Pixel works but I've found these instructions to put your phone in Silent Mode and not in Do Not Disturb mode which should allow notifications to get to your tracker without your phone making any noise. The instructions are the following:

-From a Home screen, tap the Arrow icon Up arrow icon to display all apps.
-Navigate: Settings Settings app icon > Sound Sound icon.
-Slide the Ring volume Ring volume icon slider to the left until the Vibrate icon Vibration icon appears (device vibrates).

Let me know if this works for you.

I have this same problem with my Pixel XL. I keep my phone on my desk at work and don't like it to ring or vibrate but the "do not disturb" setting blocks the notifications from making it to my ionic. May be an issue with Google not having a silent feature? So far I can't find a workaround for this

No this does not work. The desired solution is to have the Fitbit vibrate and not the phone. This solution has both vibrate. The Pixel allows for three silent modes: Total Silence, Alarms Only and Priority. If you enable messages for Priority then you end up right back where you started with both vibrating. The other two do not send the notifications through to the Fitbit at all. Either FitBit needs a work around for the "Do Not Disturb" mode or Pixel needs to provide a regular old silent mode.

Currently the only thing that you can do, I believe, is to permanently take sound off of the app in question. For example, I made my messages app always silent. I figure I can survive having only my Fitbit tell me when I have a message.

@FerdinandFitbit This didn't answer the original question. Users would like to know how to receive notifications on our devices and not our phones. Your answer just puts the phone in vibrate mode. Most Android phones have three modes: Do Not Disturb (DND), vibrate, and sound (with or without vibrate). Because of the recent changes to Fitbit respecting DND in Fitbit devices (I'm assuming for people who wear their's to sleep), we would like a work around to receive notifications only to our Fitbits when our phones are on DND because we technically have no "silent" mode.

I suggest the possibility of having a toggle option in our app to say whether we want our devices to respect DND mode or not.
