It would be really nice if I got the email about low battery before the battery dies.

How often are you syncing? The battery level only gets updated on the server when you sync.

I think that it would be great to have an option like this one, I recommend taking a look at the Notify me on device when battery is critically low request, vote for it and leave your comment. I hope this can be implemented.
