The Blaze doesn't actually have a GPS function; what it has is a tether function to piggyback off of the position finding layers in a smart phone. If anything needs improving, it is the software which runs on the phones.

Disclaimer: I've only used a Surge.
Ahhh, I'm thinking unlike your surge which will use embedded GPS for walks (hikes), you have to make sure your walking stride length is set correctly for the Blaze to calculate the distance you walked. I suppose the question which should be asked here is, can you tell your phone you're going for a run, launch the GPS mode, and then simply walk?

I had a Surge, but after reading reviews on the Blaze and and featured FitStar, I replaced my Surge with a Blaze. However, I am sad to say after seeing the discrepancies in miles after long runs/walks, I am regretting that decision. Are there any new updates or plans to fix the problem?
There's been some sort of bug since the last software "update" thats causing the Blaze to under count steps and have inacurate milage count. Hopefully a fix is coming soon.
