Returning FitBit Blaze

Hi guys,

I've had the unit for about 25 days and I am not a happy customer - for $300, it just could not accurately track. As of today, I have returned the unit - hopefully with the feedback below, you guys can improve the unit. I would not mind trying another device down the line of the issues below could be fixed:

Here are my main issues with it

- Heart Rate during weight lifting and HIIT, it was very inconsistent and wouldn't keep accurate track. I purchased this unit to keep track specially for my weight training and HIT excersies. I've preciously monitored my workout for years using the Polar Loop and the Heart Rate monitor, chest strap. On average I would burn about 750-800 calories for about 60-70 minutes of weight lifting. The Blaze had my heart rate at 100-120 the entire time and it noted I burned only 400 calories. It was extremely frustrating - I am quite in shape so I know this is not accurate. I spent days trying different things, I.e placing the unit higher on my wrist, strapping it closer onto my skin, turning it the other way, none of it made a significant difference. The only time it seemed to measure calories accurately was during long distance running or cardio; I'm not really sure why. If I sweat a lot, I also noticed the unit would become very inaccurate.

- Water proof - for $300, you would except the unit to be water proof but it isn't - quite a let down; I've had to constantly remove the unit before a shower, bath or swim.

- Clock faces - they arnt that great and the fact that you can't customize them or adjust them more is a let down.

- Battery life - it notes 5 days of battery life - even with turning the brightness down, turning off the auto sense to automatically light up the watch, I could barely only square 2-3 days out of the unit max.

- Random stops during exercise - I noticed a couple of times the clock would randomly stop during excersies - I have no idea why

Here are some positives:

- Accurate step meter - it is very accurate in counting your steps and the GPS is very accurate

- Very well designed iOS app - the app is extremely easy to use and provides you with all the info you need. It is very nice

- Easy to use navigation on device - the navigation on the unit is easy to use and very well thought out

Hopefully this feedback provides you with enough information to improve the produce down the line.

Funny you say it is accurate with steps and distance, many here would disagree.  I am getting 5 days of use per charge.  I only look at the HR monitor during or after a walk or run -- seems accurate.

Some of your negatives -- water proof, clock face selections -- were known before so I don't hink they are true negatives.

Considering the cost its pretty disappointing if either HR or step count aren't accurate. That gets you thinking about water activities (none), and basic feature set.

I wasn't aware of the "clock face selections" before purchase - I knew it came with a couple out of the box but the fact that you cannot customize them makes it quite disapointing.

I did enjoy the product - I actually contiplated keeping the unit but at $300, I just could not get passed some of the issues I noted. Hopefully with some upgrades or a new devices that corrects the points, I woulddefinitely give it another try down the line. I am now back to using my Polar Loop and Heart Rate Monitor.
