Screen is blank but turns on when in cradle

Hi just bought a new fitbit blaze sync it to my phone and updated it but when I go to put it back on the wrist the screen goes blank. But placing it back in cradle it turns on and works now. I tried resetting it but it does work

When it is off of the charger, does it turn on when pressing the button, double tapping, or raising the arm?

In addition to what @Rich_Laue asked, it would also be good to know if you notice that your tracker syncs when it's not in the charger even if the screen doesn't turn on. Do you see any steps/distance or any other stats on your dashboard?
