Since new Fitbit app update 4 days ago, Blaze will not record bike ride data properly

Four days ago there was an app update for Fibit which runs on my iPhone 7plus. The next day and every day since, I cannot get bike ride data recorded. It's been always worked for the 16 months I've had the Blaze. On May 27th, the day after the app update, I selected EXERCISE/BIKE on my Blaze as usual - the Blaze immediately connected to my iPhone and I hit LET'S GO. When I got back home from the ride and synched to the iPhone, it had recorded the correct length of time of the ride but there was no distance or map. Heart rate and calories were correct, around the figures recorded for earlier rides. It was the same yesterday. Last night there was another Fitbit app update (version 3.22) so I installed that and hoped that this was going to cure the problem. I set off this morning on a short ride, just to check that it was working now. In the first few yards, I checked and the Blaze showed it was recording my speed. I checked about a mile later and there was no speed. Another mile later and now it was recording again and did so until the end of the ride. On a short ride of 4.4 miles, it only recorded 3.1 miles though the total time was correct, matching my bike computer to within a few seconds. Is anyone else seeing this since the app update of about May 26th? Any ideas how to fix?

All my iPhone apps are up to date..no updates outstanding - I installed the latest IOS  version 13.5 last night.

Thanks...we've been ok with this Blaze. It's an old one...my wife handed it down to me 16 months ago after she'd had it for 2 years or more and she'd bought it from someone who'd had it for a good while. It's always been reliable and never had a problem. If I have to buy a new one, this one's been worth it but hard luck with your experiences. Cheers..Syd

Did your Blaze show a good connection to the GPS?

Also happened to me. Look on iPhone Settings.  Scroll to Fitbit app an make sure it knows your location.  Mine had reset itself to Never with the update.

Hi Rich...the mobile phone signal is poor in this area but I am riding the same routes I've ridden since I got this Blaze. I ride through areas of strong and very weak mobile/cell phone signal but have never had   any problems in data recording until last week after the app update. Thanks for your input.

Mine is working ok...I've biked a couple of times and it connects ok and I get maps (iPhone 11).

Previously, the app has missed map, etc. if I've hit "lets go" before the GPS connects...that GPS connection to my phone seems to be taking a little longer since the update.  Could this be the issue?

I still have issues with the distance though - this morning's ride registered 17KM on my fitbit, but 30.5 on Strava - I know the distance to be about 30.5 from checking with my car odo and Endomondo in the past.

I too am having problems tracking my bike workout.  The System worked only once on a quarter mile test and afterwards, nothing, although time and heart rate working.  I have Bluetooth connection to my iPhone 8 but my blaze keeps telling me to check my phone app. Do I need to have the cellular data turned on in the app in order to track distance and speed?

Thanks Slalom, but I always wait until it's connected to the phone.

Hi Skiak...I sometimes get teh 'check your phone app' message but invariably, that's because I've forgotten to start the app on my phone.

Went for ride yesterday and everything was normal again. Full data was collected. Lets see what happens today

Well, whatever it was seems to have righted itself. After 3 failures and 1 partial failure all one day after the other, bike ride data is being collected normally now.

Good to read that the issue is solved by itself. I am suffering the same thing since the update. Frustrating! My run yesterday and my walk today are not at all complete....
