Sleep Stages on Blaze

Hello. I saw on another post from much earlier this month that the sleep stages would be available "later" on the blaze, so I started to search the internet to see what I could find. I found an article from Fitbit saying that the sleep stages should have been available for the Alta and Blaze as early as March 6, and that it wouldn't be until April that it was released for the Charge (see the Start Sleeping Better heading at the end: https://blog.fitbit.com/sleep-stages-and-sleep-insights-announcement/).  However, I still don't have the sleep stages on my Blaze, and it just went through what seemed to be a major update this past weekend. Is anyone else still having this problem too? Should the article have said that sleep stages will be available on the Alta immediately and would not be released for the Blaze and Charge until April? Just wondering if it's my device or just misinformation. Thanks!

Well, I did make the band of my Blaze more snug last night, and sure enough.. the stages reappeared for me.  I must have been wearing it more loosely than I thought.

Hi. I read on twitter yesterday that they were aware of the issues and it would be back up and running by that evening. Low and behold my sleep stages were back on this morning.

Hi all, I hope you are doing fine. Woman Happy

As mentioned, our team was working in this inconvenience and by now you should be able to see your sleep stages information. If you are not seeing this, I recommend logging out and logging back in to your accounts.

Let me know the outcome. Woman Wink

My Blaze is showing sleep stages, but is not recording all of my sleep on about half of nights. I have tightened the band, but am still having the issue. Any ideas on what to do?

That is my experience, too.  I did see the sleep stages in a graph, but it has switched back to bar charts.  When I called their help desk he said it is a known issue, and to give them a few days.

Got my Blaze new on 4/5/17 and sleep stages worked for that night only.  None of the "problem solved" BS applies

Thanks but no soap with this one. Waiting on Fitbit to fix their bug I'm thinking.

Last night my IPhone updated IOS. Since then the sleep stages has stopped working. I have a Blaze. It has worked fine up until the IOS update.

How do I get them back please?

Hello Alejandra, no, this did not correct the issue.  I have uninstalled/reinstalled the app, as well as logged out and logged in to the app.  There are still no sleep stages.  Incidentally, I had sleep stages for 6 days, then they just went away, and I cannot get them to come back.  They don't show up on my Android app or on my computer.  Please advise?

Thanks for the information @ReneeM1228 and sorry for the inconvenience. It seems that this feature is now working 100% for all yet. We hope everything to be working as soon as possible.

See you around. Woman Happy

Thank you for this information. My Fitbit had a critically low battery level last night and I did not get the rem pattern reading. I will make sure it's powered up tonight.

Hi!  I had sleep stages showing and then last night it stopped.  Can you tell me how to make it work again?

I wish I could! Mine has never worked more than two nights in a row, and has not worked the last 4 nights. I think it's still a work in progress.

https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/2163 UPDATED May 8 to include instruction to NOT use the Begin sleep now option (too bad this isn't in the Blaze 101 Guide!):

Why don't I see sleep stages today?

There are a few scenarios where you might see your sleep pattern (which shows your time asleep, restless, and awake) instead of sleep stages:

  • If you slept in a position that prevented your tracker from getting a consistent heart-rate reading or wore it too loosely. For best results, wear your tracker higher on your wrist (about 2-3 finger widths above your wrist bone). The band should feel secure but not too tight.
  • If you used the Begin Sleep Now option in the Fitbit app (instead of simply wearing your tracker to bed). For more information on automatic sleep tracking, see How do I track my sleep?
  • If you slept for less than 3 hours.
  • If your tracker’s battery is critically low.

I have checked through my device for the past few months, and I have only obtained sleep stage info on April 12 and April 22.

I didn't do anything special on those two nights to get it, and (until this past week), I hadn't been doing anything special or different at night in any way.

This past week, I've tried all sorts of experiments with the following:

-- where I put the watch on my hand

-- inside the wrist or outside the wrist

-- using a sweat band to keep it in place

-- using a sweat band to keep it from riding up to my wristbone

None of these have had any impact on sleep stages -- I still haven't seen a single report since April 22.

One new development was that on Tuesday night this week, the device tracked my sleep TIME correctly, but it appeared to think that my heart rate was a PEAK for almost all of the night.   That made for some interesting stats in the "time exercised" and "heart rate" categories.

My expectation is that it is not reading the heart rate properly, and it is more a deficiency/weakness of the device than of all the people using it.    (Sweat is a factor, btw, as shown from the complaints of people who get bogus HR during heavy, sweaty exercise.)

The number of people still having this problem indicates that some improvements and refinements need to be made to the sensors, accounting for these things that people are not really going to be able to control (especially in their sleep).

See Countrygirl66's answer above. As long as you do not use the "sleep now" option it seems to work. Mine would never work, but since I've stopped clicking the option it's always given me my sleep report.

. My battery is freshly charged, I have it showing over eight hours of sleep time and I have my watch on my wrist in a very tight setting and still I get only sleep pattern not stages. Clearly there is something else wrong

Make sure your heart rate monitor is on.  Mine mysteriously shut off last week, and since I wasn't specifically tracking my heart rate during that time I didn't notice.  I did notice that I lost the sleep stages, though, and went through all the checks mentioned before realizing that the green lights on the back of my Blaze weren't flashing. Turned the HR monitor back on, and I'm seeing stages again.
