I work out on the stair climber machine for about 60 minutes every day, but the Blaze doesn't calculate many steps. (I understand that my hand isn't swaying, because I'm holding onto the railing.) Is there any way to fix this? My calorie count also seems really low. I was on the machine for 61 minutes yesterday at levels 18-20, and it said I burned 343 calories. The machine says 1000, which is probbaly too high. It says I got 252 steps (I tried swinging my arms sometimes.)
The step counter seems kind of pointless if it isn't logging in steps while I'm on the stair machine. I've seen posts on here about this, but no real answers. Is FitBit working on fixing this or should I consider returning it? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

@Blazer123, would your tracker fit on your ankle? That way you could theoretically get your heart rate and steps. If you just wanted steps, you could tuck it into your waistband or pocket.

@Blazer123 When you say it isn't counting your steps, are you really meaning steps or are you meaning it isn't counting stairs/floors?

Thanks @MakMak for responding! It's too small to fit around my ankle. 😞 I tried. I thought about tying it through my laces or putting the face in my sock, but I don't want to break it.

Hi @Jrdubyakc! Thanks for responding. It's not tracking steps or floors. I don't really care about the floors, though. I was on the stairclimber today for 45 minutes at levels 18-20, and my Blaze logged 76 steps. When I finished, the machine itself told me that I had an average of 148 steps per minute, which would be 6,660 steps! It sucks that my Blaze only show 76, when it should be 6,660. 😞

The stair machine is not step based.
It will never count floors as you have to go up 10 feet in elevation.
Can you put it in a pocket? It still will not be accurate.

I take mine out of the band and put it in my sock when I golf. I don't like to play with a watch and I noticed it wouldn't count steps accurately. So I put it on the inside of my ankle just behind the "ball". It reads my heart rate and gets the steps just fine. I'll occasionally kick it by accident, but it's survived just fine and hasn't fallen out over many rounds.

Thanks, Brian! I bought a large band, and now I put it around my ankle while I'm on the stair climber. So far it's worked well! 🙂
