Sync Dongle Required for Blaze?

ANSWERED

I am not seeing any documentation on the Blaze being packaged with or requiring a  USB sync dongle like some of the other trackers.  Will one be needed/shipped with the Blaze?

EXACTLY....I've got Bluetooth on and connected to the blaze, but it will ONLY bring up the "connect dongle" screen.  VERY frustrating!

I have the same problem. I cannot sync with my computer, but I have it on my phone.

My Blaze will not sync with my PC using either Fitbit Connect or the Windows 10 app.

@nlmux, are you using the Fitbit dongle, built in BT, or the cable?
If your trying to sync through BT, have you disconected the Blaze from the phone?
Any error messages?

@SunsetRunner in general Fitbit might be more right than wrong, since the BT in the computer must be Low Energy compatable. Of course there are exceptions.

I don't know what is trying to be used to connect to the Blaze. I do have BT in the PC and also have a dongle from a One. I disconnected the dongle and received a message while in the FB app that my Blaze had been disconnected, so I plugged it back in. Yet, when I did turn off BT on my phone, as you suggested, I got a message from the app asking me whether I wanted to pair to the PC (which I had not received before). I agreed, of course, and it still failed. After a few tries, I got the message that I needed to uninstall Fitbit Connect. I don't want to do that, since I still use the One in circumstances (such as painting and such) where I don't want to chance damaging/staining a wrist unit. If the app and FB Connect are going to fight, then I'll need to stick with syncing through my phone.

Yeah. The software does not seem to know that there is no dongle. It won't accept the charger cable instead. Looks like there may be a missing link in this whole Blaze setup plan.

At the outset the Charger cable is just that, a charger cable. All syncing is done by Bluetooth. However, once all software is installed, I believe the cable can handle sync and updates.

Not accurate.  I just got my fitbit blaze and have windows 10 operating system and was unable to sync/setup without a dongle which is being shipped to me by fitbit.

Yes, I'm inclined to believe you, which is why I put "I believe" because that is what I was told. However, I have only ever used BT.

Fitbit connect and your Dongle should have no problems sying the Blaze, if it csn sync your One. The web can be used to view the data.

Perhaps it "should" work, but it doesn't, unfortunately. It could be that I just haven't found the right combination of settings/equipment yet for it to work, but it doesn't look like it will.

I've been having this problem since I got my Blaze.  I installed the software on two Windows 7 computers and plugged in the Charger.  When I right click on the icon for Fitbit Connect the message "couldn't find wireless sync dongle" appears grayed out in the context menu.

When I plug in my Blaze to charge it appears as a generic USB Input Device.  It does get power which is good, but no syncing.  I was eventually able to use my phone to bind the blaze to my account, but I would love to just be able to synch wirelessly like I used to do with my Ultra and it's base station.

@Hersch the clue might be that the Blaze is optimised for Windows 10. Trying on a W7 machine is probably going to cause you a few headaches.

The product specs from the store page state "Syncs with Windows Vista and later" so I assumed Windows 7 would be included in that.  Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy with it so far, I just wish some of these OS requirements were a little more clear.

Just hit the single side button and then swipe sideways on the front off the blaze

@Jillvw This sounds like you haven't completed the initial setup and update. The Blaze needs to complete those steps before that screen changes.
