ANSWERED

I am not seeing any documentation on the Blaze being packaged with or requiring a  USB sync dongle like some of the other trackers.  Will one be needed/shipped with the Blaze?

Hey, not sure if you managed to figure out the whole "syncing with a charging cable" issue yet, but I am having the same problem with my Macbook Pro. I thought it was just because my USB ports lacked the ability to "communicate" witth the fitbit app, but it appears that I am not the only one.

I too have tried to connect through Bluetooth (I know it works as I can play music using the Blaze through the computer), but I cannot seem to sync the tracker. That said, it seems that Mac's (computers) don't have that ability to sync through bluetooth with the current setup of the app.

So I have resorted to trying to sync with the charging cradle, which is not working. I have no clue how to get around this, and was wondering if you have figured a way.

Thanks for any advice, seems like everybody doesn't have an answer.

I have only been able to use the charging cradle to charge, not synch my activity.  I have been able to use bluetooth to synch using my phone and tablet, but I have not been anything with my PC.  Otherwise I'd be out of luck.

I feel like it is a driver issue because my computer can't detect that the charging cradle is plugged in until I plug in my FitBit to charge, and even then it appears as a generic device.

per customer service, the cable that came with the blaze was intended to be a charging AND syncing cable however the fitbit connect software is not allowing it. Customer service will ship you a dongle to remedy this until they get the glitch resolved. the number is (877) 623-4997 and they are very helpful.

The point is that anyone who does not already have a dongle has to get one if they want to set-up or sync via a Windows 7 laptop.

It doesn't matter anymore. I took the blaze back. You can shove it up
your **ahem**.

I like your post but you were luckier than I in advice from Customer Service. They were pleasant but told me I'd have to sync via a smart phone or wait until the site updated with a link on Blaze set-up. Seems that Fitbit rushed out the Blaze without finishing the back-up work. Thanks to you I'll ring and see whether they will send me a dongle.

Good news is that Fitbit recognise the problem resulting from their not including a dongle, not getting the cable to sync for setup and advertising that Blaze would work with Windows less than 10 version. They are going to send me a dongle. It takes many weeks if you live outside USA but I can wait.

That's basically what happened with me.  I went back and fourth with customer service for quite a bit, but they agreed to send me the old style sync dongle.  I was just hoping for drivers to make the charging cradle sync, but I'll take it.

I know I have read everywhere that the syncing can be done by charge chord, but I have yet been able to. I plug it in and when I registered it, I had to download an app. From the app it required a dongle, so I borrowed my brother in laws and now that I am not at their house anymore I need to adjust the time to the zone I am currently in but it wont let me without a dongle. I have Windows 8.

The corrupt company of fitbit doesn't tell you that the blaze won't work
with windows 8. Luckily I bought mine at a Best Buy Store that bent over
backward to try and solve the problem and they figured it out. Fitbit was
of no help at all. I called their help number (somewhere in bum **ahem**ed
egypt) and tried their chat line....their workers no NOTHING. Best Buy
let me return the assanine blaze. Fitbit should be ashamed.

I wished I found ths forum before I returned my Blaze as I thought there was an issue with the charging cable. I did end up getting a credit and bought another blaze from a local store, (where I know I could get help if needed) and discovered I was having the same issues. Started to think that maybe it was my computer or i was doing something wrong. After reading all your comments about the charger not syncing and still needing a wireless dongle, I borrowed a friends dongle and to my amazement it worked! I will be letting the store that I purchased my new Blaze through about the dongle issue, will be helpful for other people to know. (probably a different stroy if my phone was updated to current software and the app worked)

Thanks for all the advice on here.

Interesting mix of information here. Seems lots of people are saying that it should sync through the cable, but I've yet to see anyone say that they actually CAN sync through the cable.  Tried this on both my Mac at home and my Win7 laptop at work and neither works.  Contacted Fitbit and they actually sent me a whole new Blaze (WTH?!?) even though they said they were sending a dongle. Still can't sync to the computer, but at this point I'm calling it a win and will just continue to sync only via my phone.  It's disappointing that there's such an extreme lack of knowledge about and support for such an expensive (relatively speaking) device.
