Getting an error message saying that cannot connect with fitbit.com to sync. Lazy sync was for hours ago. Is there an issue with the server?

I had the exact same problem.  But after restarting my smartphone I got it to connect.

 

I'm using a One Plus One which recently updated to Cyanogenmod 13.0 (Android 6.0.1), before that I didn't get as many sync errors as do I now (Cyanogenmod 12.1 - Android 5).  After some re-installing / rebooting devices / etc, I can sometimes sync.

 

They should really improve the syncing process, like removing the need to be connected to internet when performing a sync.
