Just curious as to how long these devices last if they are taken care of correctly. I'm hoping mine will last long.

I have had my Blaze for close to a year now I think.  My charge HR was replaced due to the strap issue, I think the new replaceable straps is much better and the construction seems stronger as well.  I had a One and a flex as well over time and did not have issues with them other than the flex strap needed replacing every so often.

I've had 2x Charge and 1x Charge HR fall apart, over 2 years.

one got downgraded to a Flex 2, as stores weren't restocking them

Hi @Rich_Laue

you are a lucky customer for each of your products to last that long.

I've had a terrible run with mine, especially the Charge and Charge HR.

Over the last 3 to 3.5 years, my wife and I have had a charge, 3 Charge Hr, a Charge Hr 2 and a Blaze.  We have had all fail buto the Charge HR 2  that is about a month old.  We follow the care instructions provided in owners manuals and from user communities.  2 failed within warranty period, the Blaze is 13 months old. The gentleman who helped me over phone offered me a special one time assist.  However I find the implication of poor care offensive.  IN ADDITION, I find the cost of 20 every 13 months too high.  What do those folks who get 2 or more years do for care of devices.  We use ours every day.

I've had my Blaze for over 15 months, still going strong.

It is worn, except for charging, 24/7.

No issues or problems with it, I didn't have any issues with my prior trackers either.

The Charge, Charge HR, and Surge have been publicly identified by Fitbit management on the quarterly investor call as legacy devices and requiring a special increase in warranty reserves (money Fitbit sets aside to pay for replacing tracker under warranty). The Charge and Charge HR have a high number of negative reviews on Amazon, due to band failure.

In summary, its fair to say that Fitbit executives have acknowledged quality issues with some of the trackers:

I've had Flex, Force, Surge, Blaze. The Force and Surge both had band issues within 6 months, this has been a common and consistent complaint on the forums. The Charge and Charge HR have similar designs and issues as stated above.

Compared to earlier trackers, the Blaze has a better design featuring a removable band. So far no quality issues, however its not rated by Fitbit for swimming, the screen is large and therefore more susceptible to cracking, and like all Fitbit trackers has its own clumsy charging system. Fitbit has announced intentions to launch a smartwatch in 2017, and I'm going to sell my Blaze now as eBay sold listings are currently in $80-$120 range.

I have had my Blaze on nearly 24/7 and have been very happy with it. It has taken no damage, but it failed recently and could not be fixed. At 20 months it was out of warranty so no replacement for me, though I was offered a discount on a replacement.

So the answer for me is 20 months. I'm glad some of have had more time and would love to hear from others.

Three Blaze's in two years.

First one:   failed to sync.

Second one: battery failed

Third one: HR sensor window failed allowing sweat ingress

First two show signs of impending HR sensor window fail.

Band lasted about 8 months.  Bought an aftermarket band from Wal Mart which is still good.

Update 30 April 2019.  My third Blaze after experiencing the HR window fail was repaired using parts from my first Blaze that failed to sync is still functional with a HR window protector fabricated from "Duck" brand ultra-clear packaging tape.
