Turning off the heart rate tracker

For two day I have been trying to turn off my heart rate tracker. I went to settings and turned off the tracker. My Blaze continued to track a heart rate (not mine!) for several min. Today I reset the Blaze 5 times before it stopped tracking a heart rate (again, not my heart rate).

Is there a trick to get the settings go apply to the Blaze? Why are the changes in Settings not changing the Blaze?
