I had a surge before breaking it in a bike fall. Now I have a Blaze. With the Surge, I had a problem that continues with the Blaze--every time Fitbit pushes an update to the app, I have to restart my phone and/or tablet. They push updates all the time, it seems. So, often, I am ready to go on a bike ride or walk, and I have to wait several minutes for a restart. Isn't there a way to do updates without always having to do a restart?
Next, on the Blaze, because it uses bluetooth to connect to the GPS on my phone, synch and communication are critical; yet often, even AFTER doing a restart and confirming that the Blaze and phone will sync, I get "Phone Not Found" on my Blaze. I did find the easy fix is to open the Fitbit app and wait for them to find each other. Can this be fixed better?
Finally, today, even though I started my bike ride AFTER getting the "Let's Go!" message, it logged 0 miles because it apparently wasn't communicating with the phone's gps after all. Should I just train myself to open the app anytime I am needing to use the GPS?

Then turn off auto update for Fitbit in the play store.
The problem is that Fitbit likes to fine tune the BT drivers which get embedded into the OS.. You could try turning off/on Bluetooth, this should restart the BY and maybe get it to work. It is because of the way special hardware drivers need to be written that may require a restart.

It's great to see you here @KurtH and @Rich_Laue thanks for stopping by and the information provided. It's' weird to hear that you are having problems with every update you have to make, as recommended you can set your phone's settings to update only when you allow it.
About the GPS, as you said, the Blaze works with your phone's GPS, if you want to improve this feature, I recommend checking your phone's settings and also you can check our Why isn't GPS working with my Blaze? article.
Let me know how it goes.
