Using phone to record steps

I have a samsung a10. When I try to set up my phone to record my steps on my blaze the ist doesnt include mobile tracking. I have disconnected, removed and restarted bluetooth, reinstalled the app, reinstalled the watch but still it does not cover the steps I take if I go out without the watch. What am I doing wrong and what do I need to do to make my phone record my steps if I havent got my watch with me. Help please
