What are the advantages of Built-In GPS?

Hey, guys. I was wondering what are all advantages of having the watch that has built-in GPS, rather than the one that needs to have smartphone. Any answer will be appreciated, but full answer is encouraged

The main advantage is simply that you don't need to take your phone with you when you want to track your walk / run with GPS.

I have also seen posts where people say that you can get better accuracy from a built-in GPS but I've not seen that confirmed by fitbit anywhere.

I don't think it's any more complicated than that.
