I took a nice Saturday afternoon nap and it correctly logged that but it din't log the Sat night into Sun morning sleep. Did my nap count as the only sleep for Saturday???

The naps are logged separately and do not affect whether it logs sleep or not. The lack of logging of sleep can occur likely for a variety of reasons. A software glitch, your particular stats did not trigger the sleep log... You can manually put in the start time of when you went to bed and when you got up and it should put in a sleep log for the time period.
If it happens again, then try restarting the unit to see if it helps. push the left and lower right button at the same time and hold for about 10 seconds until you see the Fitbit logo and then let go.
