Why Octagon-shaped Band?

Somewhat random question here - curious if anyone knows why fitbit produced an octagon-shaped band for the square blaze? I've noticed the slivers of negative space along the top and bottom of the blaze when setting in the band can collect dust and debris. It also looks poorly designed - and like it's not securely set in the band. Why not just create square-shaped bands instead? Thanks!

I'll assume your referring to the frame and not the band.

Simple answer to allow for frame give while inserting or removing the Blaze, a square band would not allow the frame sides to flex enough.  When inserting the frame sides get pushed apart causing the ends to come closer.your actually deforming frame while inserting or removeing the unit.

Sorry, yes, I'm referring to the frame.

I haven't noticed the frame sides being pushed a part. Mine acutally pops in and out quite easily. I'd be surprised if 'frame give' is the answer.

If that were the case, why not create a standard frame so that just the watch bands can be interchanged, similar to the Apple Watch? IMO, it doesn't look like the blaze and the frames actually go together. And there's also the issue of dust and debris.
