Will I receive steps if I log swim?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I swim laps and am able to log my swim, but I don't get steps for swimming because I can't use my Blaze in the water. My question is will there be a conversion soon for adding my very strenuous exercise to my steps goal? I realize I can buy the other water prof Fitbit next, and I will but for now, a simple program change please?

The other question is am I doing it wrong that my swim log doesn't show up in my steps or make the addition? Love my Fitbit, and I'm trying to be more consistent about logging different workouts like my laps, or if I forget to wear it for a walk or something.  Also I couldn't find any info on swim under Blaze.

Thank you,

MomSchwamb

Fitbit doesn't cater for the conversion of activities into steps. As far as it is concerned you only get steps from walking, running, or activities that include real steps. So, no steps from swimming, cycling, rowing etc. I guess this is so that challenges based on steps are fair.

If you forget to wear your fitbit for a walk you can manually log that walk and get steps but note that steps from manually logged activities do not count towards badges, challenges or the step total on your friend list. There's a guide to doing this here: https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/1144/

A warm welcome to the Community @MomSchwamb and @SteveH thanks for stopping by.

I think that I don't have anything to add to our friend's reply, since as he mentioned, when you are swimming you are not walking. So, you won't receive steps for swimming. And also the link provided is really helpful if you want to add steps when you didn't wear your unit.

If there is anything else, we can help you with, do not hesitate to post it. Smiley Wink
