Have you tried to restart it yet? Left and lower right button until the Fitbit logo appears.
Could there have been any vibrations in the table where you had the charger?

If the fish tank is on the same table this could be the problem, fans have also been the cause of excess steps. If this is the case after a sync you will see the hours that the steps where counted. Create a driving log for this period and your steps will be removed. Unfortunately you might have been rewarded a 45K day badge, you will need to contact fitbit and have them remove this.
I assume you where not traveling last night, a change in timezones close to midnight could cause yesterday's steps to not reset.

I was so excited to hear about the driving log. However, after entering it, I'm not seeing any change.
Not even after syncing my fitbit again.

I'm not sure which drop down menu you're referring to but I do show it on my activity log. Yet, I still have all the extra steps from the vibration last night.

I also show the same amount of high steps on my online account at fitbit.com. So, it's not just the fitbit blaze, it is also showing online.

So, the Blaze sitting on a table, next to a fish tank can possibly cause an excessive amount of steps counted. Yet walking normally can result in a 30%-50% deficit of steps counted.
Maybe Blaze users should start walking/running while holding a fish tank. That way everything should even out.
