I have been using a fitbit alta for 18 months and decided to upgrade to a fitbit blaze so it can help me monitor my heart rate and give me more guidance in my daily fitness activities.
Unfortunately I am unable to set it up because when I added it to my existing account that I have with alta it says that it cannot update because the battery is too low. I have plugged it in to my laptop and it doesnt't see to be doing anything except showing the fitbit logo with fitbit.com/setup.
Could someone please guide me by letting me know what I am not doing right? Many thanks in advance to anyone who can help me. I appreciate your time very much.
Kind regards, Stella:)

@Paparella, sorry you are still having trouble! Before you give up, I would suggest trying a wall charger rather than your lap top, at least for this initial charge, if you haven't already done so. In a walk charger the charge will be significantly faster. An hour should do it.
After that, if the battery is still too low for set up then it looks like your device is faulty. Either return it to the shop where you bought it for exchange or refund, or get in touch with Fitbit Customer Support on contact.fitbit.com.
I must say I do enjoy the extra features of a Fitbit with HR info. so it is worth persisting, or getting a replacement if that is something you feel would help you.

Hi, @Paparella, just carry on charging it for a couple of hours. The Fitbit will not give a battery charging icon until it is set up, so what you are seeing is completely normal.
Do remember, however, that in most cases a computer / laptop will not deliver charge unless it is awake, so you will not be using your laptop while you are charging you will need to turn off sleep. Alternatively you can plug it into any UL/ CE certified wall charger that will accept a USB cable (your cell phone charger should be fine, as long as it is the one supplied with the phone -- cheap replacement chargers could damage your device).
When it has had a couple of hours charge try the set up again.

thanks so much for writing @Julia_G, I'll be patient and continue to charge the battery. Hopefully I'll be able to wear the blaze soon. Until then I am using the alta, it has been a faithful friend to me.
Kind regards from,
Stella:)

Hi @Julia_G, sorry to have to write this but many hours have passed and still nothing has happened. It still says that the battery is too low and the battery icon came on the fitbit showing a tiny amount of charging.
If this is how it is going to be like when I have to charge it every time, then I may aswell return it and continue using the Alta. It has less features but at least it works.
Kind regards, Stella:)

Hi @Julia_G, I have some good news to share with you. Your suggestion about using a wall charger for the blaze turned out to be excellent. In less than 40 minutes it was fully charged and updated. I am now ready to begin using it but before I do I would like to thank you for writing and for encouraging me to find a way rather than give up.
I have enjoyed using the alta and hope to continue using it but I know that in time I will need to let it go so that I can be guided by the blaze. If you have any helpful tips that you may like to share I will definitely welcome them.
Thanks again with kind regards,
Stella:)
