My charge 5 worked really well for 8 weeks, then suddenly it stopped measuring my sleep, SO02, pulse and the blinking LED lights underneath stopped blinking.
Time and steps work fine, display is good and it charges ok, but battery life is down to 24 hours.
I spent a long time talking to a very helpful support team member and exhausted all the script based fixes.
I’m an Engineer and have been in the electronics industry for nearly 40 years and I may have a theory as to why so many of us are seeing this similar issue.
The Fitbit contains sensitive electronics and I believe , although not proven ( that’s Fitbit’s job) that the method of charging is the cause.
I found myself fumbling to get the magnetic charger exactly in to position many times . And I believe that it is at this point electrical damage could occur.
As I’ve said, it’s not proven, it’s just a hunch based on my experience.
Thankfully Fitbit have agreed to replace my Charge 5 and from now on I’ll be connecting the charger to the watch first and then switching the power on.
My top tip today is this, whenever you charge electronic devices, connect the cables before hitting the power on switch.
Hope this resonates with others and is a help.
