After a soak, Fitbit won't swipe and drain's itself constantly.

Hi there Community!

Recently went on a soak with my friends to enjoy summer and tried for the first time the water lock ability of the fitbit. The water wasn't deeper then 2m but 30 minutes of bathing later, I couldn't open my fitbit.

I recharged it later and since then, the battery drains completely in about 20m and the screen has stop responding. I take great care of my Fitbit and only had it for 1 year and 2 months and with Fitbit assuring that the charge 5 is "Water-resistant to 50 meters" I don't know what is the problem.

Here is what I have already tried.

- Drying it in rice for a week

- Checking if it's still on water lock (It's not)

- Restarting it by pressing the button on the charger until the logo of the Fitbit appears on the charge 5.

Any tips would be a great help and if you have similar problems with your Fitbit, feel free to share it on this discussion too!

Hi @running_lover water lock, when used, is to keep the buttons from activating. click to learn more. Soak or bathing, is it possible you used soap or something other than just water?

I’ve got my Fitbit as a present from the company. And I had the same problem twice. I go to the swimming pool and actually I wanted to check my activity level there. And water resistant watches just stopped working (first time after 2-3 months of using). First time I had the right to exchange them and the second one stopped working after around 8-9 months. I’m soooo disappointed. I sent them to the service centre but they said there’s nothing they can do. And as I don’t work in the company anymore I had no chance to exchange them. Anyway thanks for the experience if I’m going to buy watches now I know that I shouldn’t choose Fitbit.

That an awful experience Lubogur, and in such a short time too. I hope that you found the watch that was right for you and that it still works, for more than a year I mean ;).

I wish Odyssey13. At least I would've smelled like lavender, but I want bathing in a public swimming pool, the shallow ones, and soap never touched my body in that period of time (Although I did rinse myself thoroughly before, no worries there 😁)

So I called fit-bit support and got good customer service but still got nowhere with repairing the problem. They walked me through trying to fix my fit-bit but they had to give up mid-way and sent me a 35% discount on my next purchase. I'll be honest, I feel a bit disappointed that my 200$ "waterproof" watch died so soon because of bit of of water, and I think I'm not the only one in the community feeling that way ❤️. We all deserve better and I hope we get it soon.

Still thanks a lot Odyssey13 for all the support! Giving you a lot of love. 😁
