My app shows 19,915 steps, but the Charge 5 itself shows 14,930, which I believe to be the more accurate step count.  Why would the app show more?  I

Hello @Adventure47

I'm wondering if you set up your phone as a connected device.

  • Tap the device icon in the upper left of the Today page to open the Connected to Fitbit page
  • Do you see Phone listed under Devices?

If you see Phone under Devices, you've enabled an option that allows you to use your phone to track your steps and workouts when you're not wearing your Fitbit device. Some users have reported getting more steps than what their Fitbit device tracks when they have their phone as a connected device, since their phone is also tracking steps.

You can tap on Phone and follow the prompts to remove your phone as a connected device. This won't affect syncing between your Fitbit and the app on your phone.

I checked and my phone was connected.  I disconnected it and it was great for a few days;  the watch and app matched, all smiles from me.

Everything was great until today.  I went for a walk, 2.75 miles.  When I got back to the car and compared the two, my watch showed 12,293 and the app showed 17,031.  I know the watch is the accurate measurement, but don’t know why there’s a difference; especially having disconnected my phone.

Hello @Adventure47

Did you have a chance to check and make sure that your phone didn't get connected back in the app? I've experienced times when somehow a setting got changed.

If your phone is not a connected device, did you set up Health Connect to sync with any other health apps? If so, I'm wondering if that's the source of the additional steps.
