Did you mean:

Average life span of Charge 5 or how many times you replace your Charge in a year...

Hi All

I am very happy about my Charge 5, I use it daily and I remove it from my wrist only for charging.

I get a Charge 5 since it has been released and I could follow improvements of the software during this year.

However I have a big concern. I used 4 (four) Charge 5 in one year. All my devices past away after using them 3-4 months. The latest one died last Saturday. However, even if it does not display anything, I can still track metrics like my number of steps, active minutes, sleep...

Are there any other users who have such problem ? How often do you have to replace your device ?

During one year, the Customer Support has been very reactive and always replaced my Charge 5. Unfortunately, the warranty is over and I can not get free replacement. Should I get a new Charge 5... or change to another brand ?

Stay healthy and have a good weekend.

Regards, Emmanuel

I used to swim almost everyday, I don't think it was the problem... but who knows since FitBit never replied.

Welcome... All the best to find the tracker you will like.

Hi. I may not be the best person to reply since I did not test a lot of trackers.

I tried Xiaomi Mi Band 6. It is doing the job and is cheap however the design is minimalist and the app not very user friendly.

Right now, I use the tracker of Decathlon, GPS 500 powered by Coros. it is not as fancy as the charge 5 but very nice and cheaper. The app is good.

Yes, I agree, with time, Charge trackers are more and more performant but the quality impressively decreased, as well as objectivity of support.

Totally agree ! Sad but that's a reality. They focus on softwate and paying options but not on the quality of the physical device.

Sorry to hear... Enjoy the changing and changing process until the end of warranty and think about another tracker.

Changing every 9 months... what a joke. Especially when we reach the end of warranty and the message from FitBit/Google : "Sorry to hear that... but no worries, we give you 30% discount on the next device you want to buy".

I also went swimming with it but I've swam with it in the past but this pool had a lot of chlorine I wonder if that's what killed it

Ok, so to anyone who has had their device replaced within the 1 year warranty period...shouldn't the warranty period begin again with each new fitbit you received? Did anyone happen to ask customer service? I just replaced mine when it died after 16 mos., but if this one dies under warranty, that's the first thing I'll ask. New watch, new warranty?

My Charge 5 died after only 14 months. Went from being fine to not holding a charge overnight. Now it only lasts up to 2 hours on a full charge. Contacted customer support who told me they would escalate issue & I would get an email from support with next steps. What I actually got was radio silence. As this is my 2nd device in only 3 years, I guess I will take it as a lesson learned & start shopping for a mire reliable product. Shame because I really did like both of the trackers I had (charge 4 & 5).

I've seen this trend too. I've been a FitBit Charge user since December 2015, I'm on my 8th device as of this week. But it's my third Charge 5 in just 18 months...just 9-10 months of life compared to 16 to 20 months in pre-Covid times. I'm sticking to it for now, but I've started to wonder about trying something new....
