Black screen & won't hold charge

Screen is black.

Battery drains in less than 6 hours.

Restart via charger gives me a Fitbit logo for a second, never vibrates like it used to. Stays black.

I can sync via the app, and it's getting some data back from the tracker when it's "on" (as evidenced by the battery charge indicator in the app), but it's dead again in no time.

I've deleted the 02 app, removed find my phone, and changed everything I can in the app to be as basic as possible (since I can't do anything through the tracker (bc, yaknow, it's a black screen).

This wasn't an issue until a software update was installed this past week. And of course there's no way to roll it back.

I am so frustrated. And I am so sick of the answer being "restart from the charger" bc THAT IS NOT WORKING!!!! Find a better solution, Fitbit Support!  If that's all you have to offer, don't bother replying. This seems to be a widespread issue and Fitbit needs to either roll back the update or communicate a real, viable solution.

I have the same issue. My Fitbit Charge 5 is not charging anymore after the firmware upgrade. The screen is black, it's not reacting any more! I have tried different USB ports, devices etc. but don't get any signs from the device.

It was such a great device and you guys killed it with the firmware upgrade!!!

Similar problem.  Screen is black but on occasion it shows a 'star field' of very small dots of different colors. Then it fades to black again.  I reset it many times via the USB cable and nothing happens.  This all just started today.  The tracker was working fine this morning and then all of a sudden the screen was black and not responsive.  It is still syncing with my phone, though.

I just charged it to 100%.  Will keep an eye on how long the battery lasts now.

FYI, I ended up going through support via chat.  After troubleshooting they agreed to RMA my Charge 5.  Guess mine was just a bad batch. 😞

That describes my issue perfectly. Can't bring it back now, because it is past the 99-day COSTCO window.

What dies RMA mean?

Same problem for me, Fitbit told me to restart it and change the clock face. They followed up with a 35 percent discount code. This thing lasted 1.5 years, why would I buy another one?

RMA is Return Material Authorization

If Fitbit support confirms that your device is still under warranty and is not fixed using one of their troubleshooting procedures, they send an email with an offer to replace the device or a discount on a different device. From what I've read, if your device is out of warranty, they send an email with a lesser discount to buy a replacement device from their website.

Note: The discount is on the full price, even if the device is on sale on their website.
