Hi,
I'm used to recording squash games as workouts and then renaming the activity to Squash after my game. This has worked well for the last few years.
However as of around 9th Aug when I try to change the activity type from Workout to Squash the update silently fails and no matter what I try the activity remains as a workout.
I've tried an earlier version of the FitBit app I keep as a backup, that definitely used to work and that showed exactly the same issue, so the issue is very likely to be at the API end rather than being an issue with my phone or the FitBit app itself which I haven't changed.
I've also noticed that you've disabled the web dashboard as of July, so I am unable to use that to update my exercises as a workaround. This is rather frustrating!
Can you advise if the bug is recognised and logged and if so if there is a target to fix it, and any workaround that does work in the meantime? If I can't log Squash games as "Squash" the FitBit isn't much use to me.
Thanks!

Hi, @falloutphil , unfortunately this change was introduced some time in the last few months. I believe that it was unintentional and a bug, but as far as I know, although Fitbit has acknowledged this issue and have said that it has been passed on to the engineers, they have not formally confirmed this as a bug. There are a lot of threads on this issue. I have been following this one
Sense, Charge 5, Inspire 2; iOS and Android

Hello @falloutphil
There was a bug that affected the ability to edit completed workouts that was partially fixed. However, we are seeing other users report the same issue that you're experiencing.
The issue was recently escalated to the team and they are working on it. Unfortunately, we don't have a estimated time for a fix.
Personally, I don't know of a workaround.

I have the exact same issue. Is there any workaround yet?

Same here.
I've been able to relabel my exercise (running to mowing lawn) until early August.
Please say it will be fixed eventually!

Hello @MikaelDrache
I'm pretty sure that the issue will be fixed eventually. This is an option that many of us use.

I also have been wanting to change my exercise type to what I actually did, just like I have been able to do for years. This always worked on the web dashboard. It worked on and off on the phone app. It was broken sometime in the last few months where you couldn't even change the field text. It got fixed. Now you can change the field text, but the change is not actually saved. I see rumors here that google knows about it and they might fix it. Sure would be nice to actually know where it was broken on purpose or was a mistake.

You SUCK, google! Go ahead, take down this post. See if I care. My charge5 is pretty new and I will keep using it. However, I will never buy any google watch ever.

Hello @8wheelsgood
The bug affecting the ability to edit completed workouts recently resurfaced. It wasn't done purposely.
The issue was escalated and is being worked on.
