Change the heart rate settings to capture more frequently

I notice that the Charge 5 logs your heart rate throughout the day/night, but it only captures and logs it every 5 mins.  Is there a way to change this to make it capture the data more frequently?  Like, every minuet or something?

It is not true that it only captures heart rate every 5 minutes.  You are probably looking at a graph that shows values at 5 minute intervals, limited by how many data point can be fit on a screen.

Look at heart rate graph in a workout log and you will see more frequent data points, again probably limited by how many points can be shown on a screen.

Use the Exercise App to record brief pseudo-workouts, and look at heart rate graphs to experiment with that.

For instance, if you want to see a daily graph with a reading for every second, you need a screen with 86,400 pixel screen width, plus any labels at the sides.  My phone does not meet that requirement.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

Ah, ok thanks.  That makes sence that it only shows 5 min intervals on a phone screen.  I looked at a workout log on the app, and although it showed the graph, it couldn't tell me at a specific point during the workout what my heart rate was.  I guess this is also a limitation of what can be displayed on the phone.  When I looked at a workout log on the website however, I could see it logging more frequently, which is great.  But does it only do this for workouts?  What about in general throughout the day?  Is there a way I can see more data?

Years ago, Fitbit documented how often it read HR but has removed that part.  I don't know if it changed or they just removed from documentation.  My memory could be off on this, but I'm thinking it was at least once a second, and more frequent in workout mode.  It was at least frequent enough so I had no concerns about it capturing sufficient data.  And nobody here would know if the points they show are averages or what.

But the reason I said to look at workouts was to get a way to see the same heart rate graph covering a shorter time length so could see more points.  If want to zero in on a particular part of day, you could pretend you are logging a workout after-the-fact, as many people do anyway though I don't generally recommend it.  But that way you could log workout for a given time and length, and I think you can then see heart rate graph for just that time period.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.
