Charge 5 Add card issue and not holding charge.

So today my charge 5 started demanding I add a card. I followed the steps in that thread and it worked for a short time. The issue killed the battery. I charged the device back to 100% and it went to 5% in less than hour. To add insult to injury the add card notice is back. Looking at the forum thread this seems to be a known issue with no fix from Fitbit.

I hope you are within the 1 year warranty period. You need to contact Customer Service and request a new device to replace the defective unit you have. If you scroll down on the message board, you will see that many are experiencing this battery failure. It cannot be repaired, only replaced.
