I’ve had my Charge 5 for less than 3 months and the battery which was lasting a week now suddenly drains in 2 days

Hi, it's good to see you visiting the community forums for the first time, @Jblk

I appreciate all this information that you've shared about the inconvenience with your Charge 5.

There are a few features that would make the battery drain faster than usual, even in one day. Some of these features are:

  • Built-in GPS (Charge 5 can have a battery life of up to 4 days when using this feature regularly, or up to 5 hours if you use it continuously).
  • Always-on display (Charge 5 can have a battery life of up to 3 days when using this feature).
  • Tracking SpO2 (Fitbit points out in this article that you may have to charge your Fitbit device more often when collecting SpO2 data).

If this doesn't apply to you, another step that has been helpful for other users having battery draining problems is the three pulse restart procedure using the charging cable:

  1. Connect your device to the charging cable. For instructions, see How do I charge my Fitbit device?
  2. Press the button located on the flat end of the charger 3 times within 8 seconds, holding each press for about 1 second.
  3. Wait 10 seconds or until the Fitbit logo appears.
  4. If the device doesn’t restart, wait 15 seconds to try again.

In general, it is recommended to follow the recommendations listed in this article to improve or extend battery life.

Davide, you've been providing the same answer for months. I've always set my Charge 5 the minimum battery use, yet in the past 3 weeks I've seen battery life drop from 3-5 days depending on use, to less than 1 day, now, since yesterday, down to 1 hour. I've tried resetting, disconnecting/connecting Bluetooth, all of your past advice. It just got worse.

Strange, but this is all occurring since I've been getting frequent notices for adding credit card information.

My Fitbit worked fine. This isn't a hardware problem as it has suddenly been reported by so many people. I wish you folks would be transparent and honest, and tell us what's up.

Totally agree with @SunsetRunner the standard trouble shooting advice is ridiculous.. clearly something is going on in recent weeks with charge 5’s suddenly not holding a charge when there were no such issues previously.  None of the battery draining options are switched on on my device either, yet suddenly in the past week I’m having to charge my device every other day!

Totally agree with you,  last few weeks my charge 5 will give me a low battery warning after 2 or 3 days and then randomly turn off, it always used to go 7 to 10 days between charges. I'm also getting different battery readings from the device on and off the charger and on the phone app.

Welcome to the community forums, @Birdiem

Thanks for all your comments and for confirming that you're having the same problem with the Charge 5.

Could you please confirm if you've exhausted all the troubleshooting mentioned here earlier as well?

I have tried all of these fixes, yesterday my fitbit turned itself off during the day (60% charge when I got up) charged it when got home, fully charged when went to bed at 9pm alarm did not go off at 4.50am so woke whole house up at 5 when phone alarm went off. Email showing at just before 3am battery low, I was asleep so no reason for this and it's not acceptable.

Hi @DavideFitbit - I'm having the same issues of my Charge 5 battery draining in 2 days, sometimes even less than that. I followed all the general troubleshooting you mention in this thread, but still no success. Could you please send my information to the Customer Support for further assistance? It is striking to me that the issues started soon after my guarantee was over 😕
